Hospitality on Mission

Equipping God’s people to practice radical hospitality

Our Vision

Equipping God’s people to practice radical hospitality.

Our Mission

We build training grounds for hospitality by shaping The Farm at New Garden Park and our own home into welcoming gateways for the Body of Christ.

MISSIONAL FARMING

As the Farm and Park Director for Church of the Redeemer we have taken the helm of Redeemer’s Farm at New Garden Park. We’re about to launch “Farm to Flourish,” an employment program for members of our community facing challenges to employment.

WRITING AND TEACHING

We are committed to creating resources that help the Body of Christ share the Good News through meals, celebrations, comfort, and storytelling. We are currently completing the proposal for a book on “radical hospitality for ordinary people.”

SOUTHRIDGE SHIRE

We see our own home as the foundation of our ministry at Redeemer. To that end, we have begun construction on a “Christ Room” where we can welcome the homeless, the stranger, and others who need a place to lay their heads.

Every family should have a room where Christ is welcome in the person of the hungry and thirsty stranger.

  • Salary from Redeemer, which will increase from $12,000 (2022) to $30,000 in 2023. Redeemer has committed to increasing their contribution to $60,000 by 2025.
  • Income from a missional business, such as rental homes.
  • Home production of organic soaps and naturally dyed products, which Bethany markets online as Shire Home Goods.

“Is not this the fast that I choose:
    to loose the bonds of wickedness,
    to undo the straps of the yoke,
to let the oppressed go free,
    and to break every yoke?
 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry
    and bring the homeless poor into your house;
when you see the naked, to cover him,
    and not to hide yourself from your own flesh?
Then shall your light break forth like the dawn,
    and your healing shall spring up speedily;
your righteousness shall go before you;
    the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.
